Professor Nicola Maffulli, MD MS PhD FRCP FRCS (Orth)

Professor Nicola Maffulli is an Orthopaedic Consultant who specialises in Sports Injuries and conditions of the musculoskeletal system.

He has accumulated a wide experience in most subspecialties of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery including hand surgery, joint replacement, rheumatoid surgery, adult and paediatric orthopaedics and Sports Trauma.

As a Senior Lecturer and Consultant, he developed his subspecialty interests in Sports Trauma, Deformity Correction, and the management of degenerative joint disease in younger individuals, maintaining a keen interest in the management of complex trauma.

Professor Maffulli is an honorary Professor for Sports and Exercise Medicine at Queen Mary University of London and a visiting Professor in Trauma and Orthopaedics at Keele University. He has continued to develop these skills and developed them further as Professor of Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery at Keele University, the youngest Professor ever appointed in Trauma and Orthopaedics. Professor Maffulli then went on to take up the first competitively appointed Professorship in Sports and Exercise Medicine in the UK at the Centre for Sports and Exercise Medicine at Queen Mary University of London. He now holds an Honorary Professorship at the Centre.

Mr Apul Parikh, MBChB MRCS EBOPRAS Dip Aesthetics MRCGP

Mr Apul Parikh graduated with a Medical Degree from the University of Leeds, School of Medicine. Since then, he has trained and worked in Plastic and Cosmetic surgery as well as in General Practice. He has trained at all the major teaching hospitals in London as well as some of the most prestigious centres in the world, including the Memorial Sloane-Kettering Cancer Centre in New York.

He is one of the pioneers in the UK for using PRP injections. He regularly uses PRP injections on patients with arthritis, sports and muscle injuries and also in skin rejuvenation and hair restoration.

Paul Y F Lee, MBChB, MRCS, MFSEM, MSc (SEM), PhD, FEBOT, FRCS (T&O)

He trained in Cardiff medical school and completed his basic surgical training in Wales. During this time he has completed a part time MSc and PhD at Cardiff University. His sub-specialist interests are Arthroplasty and Sports Medicine. He has been elected to represent Wales in the British Orthopaedic Trainee Association 2013 - 2014. He is a double board fellowship certified orthopaedic surgeon.

Key research interests: biomechanics, tribology, medical engineering, sport medicine, health economics and biochemistry.
